At any time you can move cards between your libraries and techpacks. With each card, you can also save or import its associated description, image, annotations, comments, attachments, and keywords or map selected columns.
This will save you a ton of time especially on the cards that are used repeatedly in different techpacks.
1. How to move cards between libraries and techpacks
Step 1: Open your Library shortcut panel by clicking on this icon located on the top navigation bar on your techpack board page.
Step 2: Select the library from which you wish to import or store the card(s). Click on this drop-down icon to select a library.
In case you haven't created a library yet, refer to our chapter on how to create libraries.
Step 3: Select the card(s) you wish to import to your techpack. If you are importing cards to a techpack, simply quick-select your cards from your library as shown below.
And if you are looking to save cards in a library, simply select your techpack card(s) as shown below.
NOTE: You can only add cards into their corresponding library type. For eg. You can only add Sketch cards into Sketch libraries and material section cards to material libraries etc.
Step 4: Drag and drop your cards in their relevant techpack section or the library.
Step 5: As soon you drop your cards, this window called Choose column view will pop-up. This helps you map and organize your card's data before moving them between techpacks and libraries.
Learn how this works in the chapter below.
2. What is column mapping?
Column mapping helps in manually choosing the relevant data columns associated with the cards when moving them between libraries and destination techpacks. By matching the pre-existing table columns or creating new ones before performing the import action, this feature helps filter down the techpack and library data and keep them organized. This is especially helpful when moving measurements and materials section cards.
3. How to map card columns
Once this Choose column view pops-up, you have the option to import all or selected information between your techpack and the library. By default, Techpacker maps and selects all columns when importing cards, however, you have these options to customize the import as per your requirements.
Hide/Unhide column: In case you wish to hide a certain column while importing the card, you can click on this icon to hide a column as shown above. Your data will be imported, but just won't be visible. You can always unhide that column later through your column manager.
Size or Material column: To change a certain column of a card into a size column (or color-column in case of a material card), click on this icon. You column data will be displayed as size column in the techpack or library table.
Labeling your column as a size column is required if you wish to utilize the grading function correctly in the measurements table.
Manual selection check: If you do not wish to import certain columns, simply uncheck these boxes adjacent to the particular column/s. By default, all columns are selected for import.
Edit text/ name of column: You can also rename the columns as shown below.
Map to columns: By default, Techpacker automatically maps the columns with exact match naming between the source and destination. However, you can manually reselect the column mapping from this drop-down icon.
Table preview: You can see a visual summary of what columns are being imported to the destination techpack and their order in the table at the bottom of the page.
4. How to disable and enable column mapping
Column mapping is enabled by default for all users however there are some cases where column mapping is not necessary specially if you have standardized the columns across your libraries and techpacks. In such cases, you can choose to disable the column mapping.
NOTE: When you disable the column mapping, the changes will only update to your preferences and NOT for your team. Each individual team-member has to disable it themselves. Also, your preferences are stored in your cache therefore when you clear your cache, it will be enabled again.
